Writer and broadcast journalist Dawn O'Porter will be a panellist at our upcoming @WORK conference in association with NatWest, we can exclusively announce.
O'Porter is best known for presenting critically acclaimed documentaries for the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Sky as well as WE TV and TLC in the US. Her broadcast work usually deals with complex and important subjects such as childbirth, cancer, extreme dieting and polygamy.
In May 2009 O'Porter presented a documentary, entitled ‘My Breasts Could Kill Me’ which led her to embark on a personal and emotional journey after her own mother and great-grandmother died as young women from the disease. The documentary addressed the nature of breast cancer and the treatments, stigmas and genetics connected to the illness, as well as raising general awareness of the disease to hundreds of women.
She has also worked as a print journalist and is just about to release Paper Aeroplanes - her first fiction novel. This is the first in a series of two novels looking at the lives of a pair of teenage friends at school, loosely based on her own childhood.
