Visit the Knightsbridge store for a walk in a Chanel wonderland
If you’re a fan of Chanel (and let’s face it, who isn’t?), listen up! The most iconic of all iconic fashion houses has given luxury London department store Harrods a makeover.
Opening today and running for three weeks, the Chanel installation, named Une Promenade, will see the brand take over the Knightsbridge store. Flags emblazoned with the French label’s locking Cs logo fly atop the shop, with the Brompton Road windows transformed with lots of Chanel goodies – the first time Harrods has allowed a single brand to take over its street-facing displays.
Once inside, there’s a pop-up fashion boutique inspired by the apocalyptic grandeur of the Karl Lagerfeld designed autumn/winter 2011 collection – think dark settings and woodland printed walls – as well as a display of exclusive watches and fine jewellery, and a jaw-droppingly brilliant lifesize dollhouse jam-packed with rows of teddy bears wearing tweed capes created by Karl and cute Coco-like dolls.
Shoppers will also get the chance to walk into a giant Chanel 2.55 handbag, and visit the mirrored haute couture room and a replica of Karl’s design studio.
Elsewhere in the shopping emporium, there’s a pop-up beauty boutique, which stocks Chanel make-up artist, Peter Phillips’ limited edition Knightsbridge collection of lipsticks, powders and glosses.
What’s more, if you make a purchase, you’ll even get to take it home in Chanel’s interpretation of Harrods' famous green shopping bag.
