The boutique hotel in Knightsbridge has launched a new afternoon tea for 2013
Nestled just a stone's throw from the monied shoppers and wide-eyed tourists traipsing around Harrods sits the oasis of calm and comfort that is The Capital.
A family run hotel with just 50 bedrooms, you'll feel as at home at The Capital as if you were padding around your own flat in your slippers and dressing gown. The sitting room, where afternoon tea is served, is a very small and intimate affair, so it's best to keep your party small.
The afternoon tea has been created with a focus on all things British and the ingredients are all sustainably sourced. The menu includes savoury snacks such as smoked salmon and watercress on wholemeal bread, Cornish cracker cheddar and pickled shallot served on white bread, and crab mayonnaise and cucumber on wholemeal bread. While the sweet treats include homemade Eccles cakes, saffron and custard tarts, along with rhubarb and ginger trifle. The whole thing is, of course, finished off with a choice of plain of fruit scones served with homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream.
We can think of no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon, and, for a few extra bob, you can you really get the party started with a glass of champagne.
The new afternoon tea menu has been created by chef Nathan Outlaw and his head chef, Pete Biggs. It's served from 2.30pm-5.30pm daily, priced at £25 per person. To make reservations call 020 7591 1202, or for more information visit capitalhotel.co.uk.
