RedTesco Finest Barbera D'asti
If you’re not familiar with the Italian grape Barbera, and you’d be forgiven if so, it’s worth trying it out. This one from Tesco’s Finest range is quite heavy bodied with a rich dark fruit flavour. It’s got lots of vibrant cherry and plum characters but with quite a fresh taste on the palate. Some can be quite tannic but this one isn’t overpowering. They’re typically very food-friendly wines and this one is no different - it would go perfectly with a nice steak or a big home-cooked lasagne.

Blason de Bourgogne Saint-Veran
This is a delicious Chardonnay from Burgundy – it’s bursting with fresh fruity flavours, including apricot and nectarine, and has a soft and elegant finish. Due to its creamy and slightly buttery texture it would be lovely as an aperitif or to match its mellow zesty characters it would be great served alongside seafood pasta dishes or even with cheese and biscuits. A balanced, crisp and versatile choice.

Follador Prosecco Superiore Extra Dry 2010/11
A top sparkling wine choice this weekend is Follador’s Prosecco, a new addition in Oddbins. It has a rich and fruity flavour of crisp apples and ripe pears with a fresh and clean taste. It’s light enough to be paired with a variety of foods including white fish dishes or with savoury nibbles but you could easily crack open a bottle and have it on its own.
