Not Sure How to Style Flip-Flops For the Office? These Are the 5 Foolproof Formulas I Swear By

Comfortable and chic

Once limited to being worn poolside, classic flip flops are fast becoming one of Spring/Summer 2025's most notable accessory trends.

The brands leading the humble flip flop's transformation include Dior, Miu Miu, 16 Arlington and The Row, to name but a few. Styling them with midi skirts, athleisure basics, evening dresses, and trousers, each brand has played a part in making this rather basic sandal one of the cult buys of the summer. But what is of note here, is not just that they are a must-have in your vacation wardrobe, but are chic enough this season to be incorporated into your office looks too.

As divisive as the aforementioned statement may be, if you're concerned about how to incorporate flip-flops into your workwear wardrobe, we have taken it upon ourselves to compile our favourite outfit formulas that are our go-to for heatwave dressing and beyond.

From adding a pair of flip-flops to soften a blazer and jeans outfit to juxtaposing them with silk slip, the possibilities are endless - especially when it comes to finding the perfect flip-flop style. From leather to platform, there's a pair to suit any dress code and occasion, I have you covered.

Shirt + Jeans

Baggy jeans and a crisp shirt is my personal favourite workwear formula. This fail-safe look can be spruced up with most accessories, including a classic pair of flip-flops. Simply fold up the hems or opt for an ankle-grazing pair, and you're good to go.

Maxi Dress

If you're looking to get more wear out of some of your occasion wear, try adding a pair of flip-flops to dress down the look and balance a more formal dress for the office? Add a sleek pearl necklace and laptop-friendly bag to complete your outfit.

Midi skirt + blazer

A midi skirt and blazer is probably one of my favourite styling formulas this season, effortlessly mixing masculine tailoring with soft feminine silhouettes for timeless elegance. For a more formal look, add a pair of heeled sandals for a traditional flip-flop style with a touch of cool.

Culottes + Cardigan

While leather may not be everyone's preferred fabric for summer, choosing a culotte silhouette provides added breathability while still maintaining the look. To prevent overheating, replace your default blazer with a cropped cardigan, add a pair of snake-print flip-flops, and you're all set.

Linen Shirt + Trousers

For more formal dress codes, replace a classic shirt and trouser ensemble with a breezy linen shirt and a wide-leg pair of trousers. The oversized fit will not only enhance your comfort throughout the day but also elevate your look when paired with flip-flops and distinctive jewellery.
