Milan has spoken- butter yellow isn't going anywhere this Spring
Gorgeous enough to eat

It's official: the butter yellow trend is still going strong, if the street style set of Milan Fashion Week is to be believed.
The good-enough-to-eat hue was everywhere last year, on the catwalk at the likes of Christopher Esber, Jil Sander and Molly Goddard, and dominated our social feeds as well - with Aligne's Leo waistcoat having its own viral moment.
For Spring/Summer 2025, the pastel hue is still in the spotlight, and is the perfect antidote to the more saccharine pinks, lilacs and mints we are more accustomed to in Spring.
It's only day three of Milan Fashion Week and butter yellow is already dominating the cobbles, with editors, celebrities and influencers showing us just how to update the trend this season.
Sitting between beige and bright yellow, this incredibly versatile shade lends itself perfectly to tran-seasonal dressing, layered with creamy knitwear and lace tights or under more Winter-friendly shades like black and burgundy.
As we move into the warmer months, a summer dress paired with a lightweight trench is the way to go, and we're loving short suits too.
Here are five outfit formulas to make wearing the butter yellow trend a breeze this season.
5 Ways To Wear Butter Yellow
1. Soft tailoring
The easiest way to work the butter yellow trend into your wardrobe is with tailoring. A smart blazer layered over a white t-shirt and jeans for example. Or you can make like this influencer and wear a full pastel suit.
2. The summer dress
A simple butter yellow summer dress gives chic 90s vibes and is such an easy go-to for any occasion if you are unsure what to wear. I love it styled with other pastel pieces like this pavement-skimming pink trench coat.
3. With burgundy
Burgundy was one of the hottest hues of Autumn/Winter 2024 - even Kate Middleton added it to her wardrobe. Mixing it in with your butter yellow pieces is the perfect way to tick two trends off in one go, as well as nailing that tran-seasonal look. We love the skirt over trousers look too, which is another big SS25 trend.
4. Matchy Matchy
Nothing makes getting dressed in the morning easier than opting for one hue from top-to-toe. A short suit with a jacket and matching shorts will make it seem like you've spent hours getting ready even though you've just throw the look on. If you want to tone things down somewhat, add some black accessories.
5. Lots of layers
Layering is key when you want to look summery but the weather doesn't quite permit it yet. This influencer has nailed it by layering an oversized butter yellow blazer over a matching shirt, cream tassel skirt and lace tights.
