15 Blazers That Add Instant Polish to Any Look—And Are Worth the Investment

Tailored to perfection

Are you a fan of a blazer? Of course you are. The tailored jacket is a staple in nearly all our wardrobes these days, appearing everywhere from the office to a swanky restaurant. That being said, it can be difficult to find the right one. There are so many options out there that it can be overwhelming, particularly when it comes to style and fit—and especially now that they're all over the runway.

For Autumn/Winter 2025 Saint Laurent leaned into especially oversized shapes with sharp shoulders and shiny leather. Stella McCartney opted for colour-coordinating suits full suits, proving how the blazer can be effortlessly layered once the weather starts to chill—a crisp shirt, V-neck jumper and coat all make for excellent options. And looking ahead to Cruise 2026, Gucci made a case for a softer colour palette than basic black, weaving together different shades of green. All evidence that when it comes to the sharp suit jacket, anything goes.

Yet, contrary to popular belief, the blazer didn't start off as formal wear, but rather as a compromise between a dinner jacket and a sports jacket. One of its origin stories goes back to the boating team of St John’s College in Cambridge in the 1820s, while another points to the Royal Navy.

Either way, they were originally worn by men with straight tailored trousers, and have since been adopted by the masses—styled with everything from said tailored trousers to slip dresses, jorts, jeans and everything in between. Just consider them your quick-fire way to make any outfit look a little more polished.
