Melania Trump is one of the most talked-about people in the world, and from her controversial fashion choices to her rules within the White House walls, she never fails to make viral news.
Unsurprisingly, the past few months have been no exception.
From her red gloves baffling the internet and her breaking a New Year tradition to being the subject of a recent sexist joke by her husband Donald Trump and her seeming to disappear recently, the past few weeks have been all about Melania.
It isn’t her silence however that has made news this week, instead it’s her behaviour, with the First Lady jetting off on holiday.
But why has the First Lady going on holiday angered the internet? We’ll walk you through it.
With Donald Trump shutting down the US government almost a month ago, restrictions have been made. 800,000 government employees have reportedly since gone unpaid and even when entertaining, the White House has been calling in Big Macs in the absence of catering.

One of the biggest cut backs was stopping Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, from using a military plane to visit US troops in Afghanistan, something that has been postponed until after the cut back.
People were angry therefore when Melania used a government plane to go on holiday, flying off to Trump’s Mar-a-Logo resort for the weekend.
‘The White House thought it was cool to send Melania Trump to Mar-A-Lago — that’s an actual vacation — on a military plane after blocking Pelosi from going to see the troops. But nobody loves the military more, amirite?,’ tweeted one user, while another called it ‘an abuse of power’.
Hmmm.
