Jeremy Corbyn's son Tommy wasn't particularly well known outside Labour circles before the General Election. But one minor Twitter storm later, the 23-year-old youngest son of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is trending thanks to his uncanny resemblance to a certain Hollywood hobbit.

Corbyn didn't put his family in the spotlight during the election campaign; his third wife Laura Alvarez, who he married in 2013, was a supportive background presence in the build-up to the election, as were his three sons Tommy, Benjamin and Seb, who he had with second wife Claudia Bracchitta. Bracchitta and Corbyn divorced in 1999 over a disagreement on whether to send their eldest child to a grammar school, but Corbyn says they remain on very good terms.

With the bone structure of Wood and the hair of an early N-Sync Justin Timberlake, Tommy is - as one Twitter user pointed out - 'the comrade we all need right now.' Like his brothers Ben and Seb, Tommy is a strong supporter of his father. After Corbyn Senior's surprise gain in the election last week the York University graduate tweeted, 'to everyone who called my dad unelectable… how’s that going for ya?’
