Michelle Obama doll goes on sale
From style icon to action figure for the US first lady
From style icon to action figure for the US first lady
With Christmas just around the corner, one US toy manufacturer is hoping to capture the mood and wallets of many with the first Michelle Obama action figures.
The dolls, which will go on sale in the US on November 20, feature the first lady and fashion icon in two of her most-famous gowns; the purple dress Michelle wore on the night she and her husband debuted their special handshake to the world and the black and red dress Mrs Obama made famous on election night.
Jailbreak Toys, which has sold 200,000 of its Barack Obama dolls since they went on the market in 2008, said the down-to-earth first lady was the obvious next step.
This isn't the first time though, that the Obamas have been made into merchandise. During the drawn out election campaign, Obama's image was available to the public on everything from coasters to mouse pads to coffee mugs.
Mrs Obama's practical approach to fashion has seen her popularity grow and grow in recent months with her every outfit heavily scrutinised by fashion watchers and political junkies alike.
