Warehouse forced to destroy thousands of bags, after Jimmy Choo accuses them of copying
HIGH STREET STORE Warehouse has been forced to destroy thousands of handbags, after they were deemed too similar to the Jimmy Choo Marin clutch bag. An out of court settlement has been reached between the two companies, which will see Warehouse pay £14,000 to the designer company, as well as destroying all of the offending bags.
The £20 handbag from the high street store was accused of being a replica of Jimmy Choo's £650 version, although a Warehouse spokesman claimed 'Warehouse would never deliberately copy anybody else's designs.'
This is not the first time that Jimmy Choo has taken legal action against the high street. Marks and Spencer suffered a similar fate last year, in a case over a £9.50 bag, where all stocks again had to be destroyed. New Look has also felt the company's wrath, and was forced to pay £80,000 for copying Choo's Bonbon shoe.
