Speaking about the colloboartion the designer sisters said: 'Opera has always been a part of us; our grandmother was from Rome and studied it as a young girl. To be a part of the legacy of Don Giovanni is an amazing opportunity’
The Californian Rodarte sisters previously designed some of the ballet costumes for the award film Black Swan and also created a collection of gowns for an exhibition at the Pitti W in Florence.

The project is still in its early stages but the designers did drop a few hints of what opera fans can expect. The Mulleavy sisters have revealed that their ambition for the costumes is to create a 'timeless context' for Mozart's characters, bringing together tradition and their unique perspective.
