Louboutin sued the French brand in 2011 over a pair of 'copycat' red soled shoes from YSL's 2011 resort collection.
In August 2011 the judge of first instance denied this demand however, Christian Louboutin decided to appeal the ruling.
Yesterday, the court of appeal ruled definitively that YSL is fully entitled to sell monochromatic red shoes dismissing all Louboutin claims for a second time.
In a statement issued by YSL, the French brand said:
'YSL has been selling single-colour shoes (red, purple, blue etc) since the beginning of the 1970s. This legal victory gives YSL full liberty to sell its red shoes.'

'The judge recognized the reputation of Louboutin red sole characterized by a contrast with the rest of the shoe, which has never been the case with any Yves Saint Laurent shoe. Indeed, this has always been the position of YSL since the beginning of the case and it was cited by the judge of appeal in support of his reasoning.'
