Last week, we were all a bit shocked when we found out that one of Sex And The City’s most iconic fashion moments didn’t happen.
Turns out Carrie Bradshaw wasn’t originally going to wear that iconic white sex and the city tutu, she was meant to wear a Marc Jacobs dress instead.
The powder blue A-line shift was part of the Spring 1998 collection and was modelled by Kate Moss on the catwalk that season.
It has a shimmering satin finish and embodied that classic 90s paired-back look (as seen on Winona Ryder below).
In the original opening sequence, shared by Marc Jacobs on Insta, Carrie styled it with some white heeled sandals and a blue bag - and instead of being splashed by a bus, Carrie suffered the embarrassment of stumbling in her heels.
Though you might think Marc Jacobs is kicking himself for the missed opportunity, believe it or not, designers weren’t keen to lend items for the show at all at first.
Sarah Jessica Parker revealed in a podcast that it was only after Fendi loaned the baguette in season 2 that everyone jumped on the bandwagon.
We love the elegant dress, but we still can’t imagine Carrie without that tutu. What do you think?
