Chanel’s annual Métiers d'Art's show took a little bit of Paris to Rome last night, as Karl Lagerfeld recreated the city’s streets in an iconic Italian film studio. Kristen Stewart, Lara Stone and Bella Hadid all played a part in the extravaganza – here’s what you need to know.
The Show Set Was Cinema Worthy No, it really was. Karl set up his latest epic production at the Cinecitta film studios taking six weeks to construct a romanticized silver screen version of his beloved Paris. Vintage look cameras filmed every detail, and the models even carried tiny film reel clutches.
Lara Stone And Bella Hadid Did The Walk Of Shame Emerging from the mock Metro, Karl’s characters (ie the models) walked along the deserted streets of Paris, under the midnight-look lighting. These were super glamorous girls who had clearly had a great night out - if their disheveled beehive hairstyles and achingly cool styling was anything to go by.
The Clothes Were Seriously Crafty Métiers d'Art's is an annual celebration of all the artisanal houses that work with the Chanel, from milliners to embroiders to feather makers. After the show, guests got up close and personal with the exquisitely embellished pieces.
It’s All About Location, Location, Location For Karl Every year, Karl flies the show to a different place that was significant for Coco Chanel herself (he’s previously taken over Dallas, Shanghai, New York and more with his mega-productions) and he duly honours the crafts of the local area. This year’s hot spot was chosen in honour of actresses like Romy Schnieder and Anouk Aimee who wore Chanel in Italian films shot at the Cinecitta studio in the 60s.
