Karl Lagerfeld is facing legal action in France, following his negative comments regarding ‘curvy women’ in the fashion industry.
A women’s pressure group – called Beautiful, Rounded, Sexy and fine with it (Belle Ronde, Sexy et je m’assume) - is suing the outspoken Chanel designer for his “defamatory and discriminatory comments”.
The suit is particularly aimed at comments Karl made during his appearance on French talk show, Le Grand 8, earlier this month, when he said: “nobody wants to see curvy women on the runway”.
Karl also angered many when he went on to blame ‘fat people’ of wasting the country’s tax revenue through their associated illnesses.
He said: “The hole in social security, it’s also [due to] all the diseases caught by people who are too fat.”
The group have demanded “a right to respond to and confront” Lagerfeld over the interview.

“We’re fed up,” the group’s president, Betty Aubriere, told AFP. “Many young girls are insecure and hearing such comments is terrible for them. Today it’s him who insults us and tomorrow who will it be?”
Karl’s controversial ‘curvy’ quote has since been published in new book, The World According To Karl, which collates some of the designer’s most infamous quotes. Both good and bad, it would seem.
Ms Aubriere also spoke of her drive to raise awareness in schools: “so that people understand that curves are often an illness of genetic, and not sure to a poor diet.”
