Anne Hathaway opens up about the her vulnerability in the upcoming film
Anne Hathaway’s weight loss for Les Miserables has been a hotly discussed topic in the build up to the film’s release. But the reports in the press have not been enough to overshadow the performances in this incredible musical onscreen offering.
In this video the film’s cast, that includes Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried, touch on how Anne portrayed her character’s despair through the music.
Eddie Redmayne, who plays Marius, said: ‘When I saw Anne singing with this extraordinary fragility that song, [I Dreamed A Dream] which I thought I knew pretty well suddenly I listened to the lyrics for the first time a fresh.’

And, as you’ll be able to tell from this video, Anne does an amazing job. Of the experience, she says: ‘There seemed to be something selfish about going for the pretty version of the song.’
‘She’s [Fantine] devastated; she’s literally at the bottom of a hole looking up and realising she’s never going to climb out of it. I decided to apply that truth to the melody and see what would happen.’
