But the couple enjoyed an extravagant second wedding in Venice this weekend, which was attended by a host of Hollywood's A-list, including Charlize Theron, who described it as a 'beautiful wedding'.
'I'm really happy for them and they're just a beautiful couple,' Theron told Us Weekly on Monday at a Film Society of Lincoln Center event honouring Tom Hanks in NYC.
'We're really good friends, and it was really a celebration of love - that's what it was really about.'
The celebrations kicked off on Friday, with a masquerade rehearsal dinner held in the decadent 17th century Punta Della Dogana.
The following day the couple exchanged their vows for a second time, at the 18th century La Fenice opera house.
The blushing bride was utterly stunning in a custom-made Balenciaga gown.
