Scarlett Johansson to sue US magazine over plastic surgery claims
Scarlett Johansson is to sue an American magazine for 'outrageous and defamatory' claims that she has had plastic surgery.
The Hollywood starlet was angered by a cover story on US Weekly, which featured two pictures of her face with the headline 'A-List NIP/TUCK: did they or didn't they? The best before and after photos that prove not all stars were born this beautiful.'
In a statement released by her publicist, Johansson said there was no truth to the implication - and that she would be taking immediate legal action, popcrunch.com reports.
'US Weekly's cover story regarding Scarlett Johansson and its clear implication that she has had plastic or cosmetic surgery on her nose is an outrageous and defamatory fabrication lacking any conceivable basis or proof,' said the statement.
It added that the magazine had published the story despite Johansson's denials before publication - and that it could not provide any evidence such as the name of a surgeon to back it up.
The statement added: 'Scarlett has always been straightforward with the press regarding her body image, and she is very concerned that her fans (and perhaps even her employers) will feel misled.
