New dad Prince William will be relocated to London this September so he can be closer to Kate Middleton and Prince George
Prince William will take up a role with the Household Cavalry's elite Mounted Regiment this September, as he prepares to relocate to London, sources have confirmed to the Sunday Express.
The new dad, who welcomed his first son Prince George into the world last week, will rejoin his regiment the Blues and Royals, based at Hyde Park. The move comes as the Duke of Cambridge takes two weeks paternity leave for the birth of his son, which he's spending with Kate Middleton at her parents' family home in Bucklebury in Berkshire.
This is almost as exciting as the Beckhams moving back to London...
Prince William will now carry the same title as his brother Prince Harry, reporting as a Captain at the barracks in Knightsbridge. He has spent the last three and a half years working as an RAF helicopter pilot in Anglesey, but will move into his and Kate's new apartment at Kensington Palace 1A when they return from Bucklebury, say reports.
While Wills' new job has yet to be confirmed by Kensington Palace, a senior Army source tells the paper: 'Our understanding is that he will finish with the RAF have some leave that is due and then return to the Blues and Royals and serve with the Mounted Regiment, where he will take an appointment as second in command of a squadron. It is not a difficult role but it requires a lot of attention to detail.'
It's thought that Prince William, Kate Middleton and baby Prince George will stay at the Middleton family home for the next two weeks, while the Duke is on paternity leave, but Kate may stay for longer until her husband takes up his new post in London.
