The Prince assembled high profile sports stars to speak publically about mental health
Prince Harry has spoken publicly about his experience of grieving for his mother Princess Diana. The Prince spoke at an event he hosted at Kensington Palace for the mental health charity Heads Together, which he founded alongside the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The campaign joins eight mental health charities and organisations in a bid to change the conversation on mental health from one of stigmatisation to one of support.
The Prince was just 12-years-old, and his brother Prince William 15, when their mother was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris on August 31 1997. The 31-year-old only began speaking about the tragic event three years ago, explaining that he didn’t discuss it ‘for the first 28 years of my life,’ reports The Telegraph
He later told BBC Breakfast that people in the public eye are a good example of how we can appear tough while ‘inside there’s all sorts of stuff going on’. He said: ‘Once you have got people in public roles, as such, coming forward and talking about it, it should open the way for everybody else to do it.’
