Natalie Portman’s natural beauty may be showstopping, but retouched images of the star in the Christian Dior mascara ad have halted the campaign’s proceedings altogether.

A magazine advert featuring the stunning star with defined, elongated eyelashes has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) following a complaint from L’Oreal UK.
It’s believed L’Oreal lashed out at rival brand Dior reporting them to the ASA, claiming the mascara ad was misrepresenting the product. L’Oreal believe the image had been photoshopped to exaggerate the effect the mascara has on lashes.

ASA chiefs justified their decision to ban the ad saying it cannot run in its current form as it may mislead customers.
Following the action, Christian Dior did admit to using minimal ‘post-production’ techniques on the image but denied misrepresenting their product. They added that the original image was intended to promote lipstick but later decided to change tactics and use it for mascara.
