Michelle Williams is taking on the role of Sally Bowles in the musical revival opening in April 2014.
The Roundabout Theatre Company has confirmed that the triple Acadamy Award nominee and new face of Louis Vuitton will be making her Broadway debut playing the sultry cabaret singer with the killer fishnet stockings and top hat that Liza Minelli immortalised in the 1972 film.
The production will be directed by Sam Mendes and co-directed by Rob Marshall, and is set to open on Broadway on 24 April.
Alan Cumming, who won a Tony Award for his portrayal of the Emcee in Cabaret's Tony Award winning 1998 revival, will be reprising his role opposite Michelle's Sally.
Rumours that Cabaret would be returning to Broadway have been around for some time, with starlets Anne Hathaway and Emma Stone both linked to the role of Sally Bowles. Michelle is reportedly joining the cast after Emma withdrew due to scheduling conflicts.
Wilkommen to Broadway, Michelle!
