The troubled starlet opened up to Jay Leno about her recent run-ins with the law
Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan spilled the beans on her recent run-ins with the law, insisting she is now taking full responsibility for her actions. The 24-year-old admitted, 'I’ve made a lot of poor decisions and I’m dealing with the consequences.'
The star spoke openly about her 2007 DUI conviction as well as her stint in prison on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, and received a standing ovation from the audience for her humility.
'It was an interesting experience and it was definitely a wake up call. But everything happens for a reason,' she wisely asserted, talking about her time in jail.
'I'm not a kid anymore. I’m 24, I’ve made a lot of mistakes and I recognise that.'
Talking about her sentencing, she was similarly diplomatic, refusing to slam her jailers.

'I was kind of shocked, I didn’t expect the outcome to be what it was. But I’m a big girl and I’m going to do what I’m told to do. I’m taking responsibility. I think that I was treated the way I should have been treated.'
As in the cases of many child stars, Lindsay’s rise to fame was meteoric - with catastrophic results. She conceded that her bad behaviour was more likely than not due to this formative experience.
'I think that when, you know, being young and being in the position I was in, you don’t really take the time to appreciate what you have and it’s all kind of a whirlwind, and people make decisions for you.'
The Mean Girls actress also confirmed that she will be starring in new crime flick Gotti: Three Generations alongside John Travolta, which is due to begin filming later this year.
