Lily Allen is no stranger to controversy and this time the retired singer has been on the receiving end of some particularly upsetting abuse after reporting a soldier to the Ministry of Defence.
It all started when a man, claiming to be in the Army, sent Lily what she perceived to be a racist message on the online social media site. He said: 'just seen you bought s*** I mean adopted a child from Africa.'
Lily, who tweets under her married name @lilyrosecooper, reported the comment to the MoD after asking her followers: ‘How do you report someone on here. That guy I retweeted should be banned.'
In response to the 27-year-old star's complaint, an Army spokesman said: ‘Racism of any kind is completely unacceptable and the Army has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of harassment and discrimination.
‘We are aware of the alleged offensive comments and are investigating the matter. It would be inappropriate to comment further while this is ongoing.’
Lily has since been subject to some pretty nasty abuse via Twitter and has retweeted some of the offensive comments she's been sent, saying: 'Just a few examples of the drivel I'm being subjected to for reporting that guy yesterday.'
