Lily Allen's highly anticipated new album is due to be released next year, and the singer has revealed that it won't be an 'I'm a mum' kind of sound.
The mum-of-two thrilled fans when she announced she was coming out of 'retirement' with a new record, and according to a new interview with Hello! magazine, it's as edgy and tough as ever, despite the major life changes in the 28-year-old's life since the release of It's Not Me, It's You in 2009 (Wedding! A vintage shop! Babies!)
'It's not an earnest "I'm a mum" kind of record,' Lily told the publication. 'It's empowering. There's some feminist vibes going on. It's the same old me with a bit of swearing going on. Good choruses, key changes here and there - that's it!'
The singer also debuted a newly coloured and cut bob hairstyle on Instagram this week, and tweeted a photo of herself in the stylist's chair, captioned: 'Back to black.'
The singer also confided that she had mixed feelings about returning to the spotlight since giving birth to daughters Ethel Mary in November 2011 and Marnie Rose, in January 2013.
'I'm really nervous because I haven't been on stage for a really long time. I'm actually really scared. The music thing is great - creating is what I do.

'But being catapulted back into the limelight is something I'm anxious about, mainly because I've got two children now. It's not just me - I've got family to think about.'
The new album is being made with Lily's long-time collaborator Greg Kurstin and is due for release in April 2014.
