Katy Perry and Russell Brand (and the proverbial elephant) attended the LA Lakers basketball match last night, but the former couple pretended not to see each other. It's the moment many of us dread. That gut-wrenching feeling when you accidentally bump into an ex. So spare thought for Katy Perry and Russell Brand who both rocked up to the NBA season opener last night.

It was inevitable that the star's paths were to cross sooner or later, so it's no surprise the former couple were well-rehearsed in seemingly blissfully unaware of each others existence.

Sitting on opposite sides of the court, the two tried to play it cool with Katy, joined by her dad, appearing engrossed in the match while Russell hung out with David Beckham and his mates Adam Levine and Robbie Keane.
