Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams have ended their three-year relationship. US Weekly first reported the split, with a source claiming the actors, 'quietly and amicably split a few weeks ago'.

The couple first met when they starred together in 2004's Brokeback Mountain. They had a daughter, Matilda, in October 2005 and have since been living in Brooklyn, New York.

Both are yet to comment on the claims, though the source revealed: 'The relationship had been rocky recently. They tried very hard to make it work but finally decided to separate. They just grew apart.'
