But manager Arsene Wenger shot down the rumours, telling reporters David's only interest is staying fit.
'He’s fantastic — that is one of the reasons I took him here,' he said. 'Beckham always has a good word for people. The young English players look at him and take his advice on board. His advice is positive.'
Wenger added: 'It is purely for fitness. There’s no speculation about signing. 'He’s a sportsman and wants to get fit — because maybe in June he has plans to play somewhere. Or maybe he will take three or four months off?
'He has given England great service and you always try to help these people.'
In a recent interview, Victoria Beckham said the family are 'excited' about their move back to Britain, following the end of David Beckham's LA Galaxy contract.
‘Now David has finished playing for LA Galaxy and we are starting a new chapter in our lives,' she said. ‘As a family we are all very excited about what lies ahead for 2013.’
