Award season is fast approaching and while Christmas is yet to come we’ve still plenty to get excited about once it's all over – and firstly it’s the BRITs.
Next year’s awards will see Damien Hirst step into the coveted role of designing the award statue while James Corden will revive his role as show host.
Damien takes over from this year’s designer, Sir Peter Blake, and Dame Vivienne Westwood in 2011. The bespoke statue is the iconic image behind the BRITs and is the perfect platform on which to show off British talent. And not just that, the winning celebrities will also own their own piece of Damien Hirst art as well as a BRIT award. Lucky them!
BRITs Chairman David Joseph said: ‘We are delighted that Damien will become the third extraordinary creative Briton to reimagine the BRIT statue.
‘He is truly one of the most important British artists ever and his unique vision will make winning a 2013 BRIT an even more special proposition.’

Returning to host the show, held at The O2 on 20 February, is James Corden who will make his fourth appearance on the stage next year. We’ll have to wait until 10 January to find out who is nominated before voting then opens.
