The actress has spoken out about her 'devastation' at the hit movie's ending
Cynthia Nixon, who became a household name thanks to her role as Miranda Hobbes in Sex And The City, has revealed her 'devastation' at the 2008 spin-off film's finale.
Speaking to the New York Times, the US star said that she is 'proud' of what the hit TV series and subsequent films accomplished for women but feels uneasy about the parallels it drew between love and money – 'an aspect of the show' she never liked.
Talking about the famous scene at the end of the first film when Mr Big shows Sarah Jessica Parker's character, Carrie Bradshaw, a walk-in wardrobe he's built for her in their new apartment before proposing, Cynthia explained: 'Is this what these women think true love is? A man who has enough money to buy you a walk-in closet?'
She added: 'I remember when we screened the first movie in London and when Mr Big shows Carrie that closet he’s built for her, the entire audience clapped. I found that devastating. Maybe that’s a strong word, but I was disheartened.'
