Amy Winehouse speaks out on 'shame' of drug addiction
AMY WINEHOUSE HAS given her first interview about her drug overdose and the 'shame' at the moment she thought a concoction of cocaine and ecstasy had killed her.
The 24-year-old singer praised husband Blake Fielder-Civil whom she says saved her life by rushing her to hospital after she collapsed in August.
Winehouse spoke to German magazine Stern saying: 'I really thought I was on the way out. My husband Blake saved my life. Often I don't know what I do, then the next day the memory returns. And then I am engulfed in shame.'
The troubled star also discussed her battle with depression, which she had suffered since the age of 16. 'I saw a picture of myself when I came out of the hospital. I didn't recognise myself,' admitted Winehouse. 'Since I was 16, I've felt a black cloud hangs over me. Since then, I have taken pills for depression.'
The interview follows the singer's recent arrest in Norway for possession of cannabis. Winehouse and her husband spent the night in a cell before being released with a £350 fine.
