Tasty, child-friendly tapas in the heart of Brighton
Where? 95/99 Western Road, Brighton (01273 732323, www.pintxopeople.co.uk)
Mood? Relaxed. Pintxo People is very child-friendly, with a play area and buggy parking. Yummy Mummy Zoe Ball, Richard E. Grant, Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen and Preston are amongst the celebs to have been spotted there.
Why Go? Pintxo - pronounced 'pincho' - is the Basque word for Tapas. Downstairs, there's a funky bar and deli, upstairs is the restaurant proper, with beautiful Venetian-glass chandeliers and stained glass skylights.
To drink? A zinc-topped bar serves classic cocktails with a twist: try the smoky Martini, £4, which consists of neat gin and a splash of Scotch served with an atomiser of whisky to spray directly onto the tongue.
To eat? The super-friendly staff reckon that five tapas dishes will feed two; don't miss the roasted vegetable terrine with anchovies and a black olive dressing, £6, and the thin slices of acorn-fed Iberico ham with tomato and toast, £12. Leave space for the pistachio brownies with orange custard, mint sorbet and kumquats, £5.
To avoid? Some of the flavours in the Asian-inspired dishes, such as scallops and mango brochettes with crystal noodles and vanilla, £9, can taste mismatched.
