'Mono-lunchers' found to eat fewer calories overall
A study has found that eating the same lunch every day could make you lose weight as you consume fewer calories overall.
The research, by scientists at the University of Buffalo and Vermont and published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found women who ate mac and cheese every day for lunch for a week consumed 100 fewer calories during a 24-hour period.
So-called 'mono-lunching' makes us become habituated to certain foods and helps us eat less, the scientists found.
Author and nutritionist Zoe Bingley-Pullin, who has the same breakfast of grainy bread topped with avocado, tomato and egg every day, said she backs up the findings.
'These days we're far too overstimulated when it comes to food choices.
'We sometimes forget that food is just fuel and we spend far too much time thinking about it' she said.

However some experts say this repetitive diet could cause eating problems.
Lee Holmes, the author of healthy eating guide Supercharged Foods, said: 'In recent years there's been a rise of orthorexia sufferers who are obsessed with eating healthily.
'To eat for optimum health it is important to go with your gut instinct and listen to what your body needs,' she said.
