Update your CV, leave your job and move to Dublin - there’s a job as a professional Cat Cuddler going. According to the job description, the Just Cats Veterinary Clinic & Cattery is looking for ‘a crazy cat person’ who has natural ‘cattitude’ to pamper and cuddle kittens full time. Where do we sign?

The cats-only clinic delved further into the skills necessary for the role, which include having ‘gentle hands capable of petting and stroking cats for long periods of times’ and being softly spoken to ‘calm the nerves of some of our in patients’. The most technical aspect of the role seems to be having a kitten vocabulary, as being able to ‘understand different types of purring is a distinct added advantage’.

While Just Cats identifies itself as an equal opportunities employer, their discrimination of canine patients leaves something to be desired. The role, which has since been advertised on social media, has been shared more than 100 times on Facebook since it was posted yesterday.

But how much exactly does a Cat Cuddler make? While the salary hasn’t been advertised on the site, the cat clinic confirmed to Time Money that successful applicants could look to earn €20,000 - €25,000 (roughly £17,315 - £21,642 a year). Depending on a person’s feline stroking experience however, they said they’d be open to paying more.

There's one small drawback though. Just Cats is looking specifically for someone with a qualification recognised by the veterinary council of Ireland. While we’re sure it’s a purr-fect role for somebody out there, we’re going to have to bow out until we have that masters in kitten cuddling.
