The jumpsuit gets a grown-up makeover at Jil Sander
Is this what the The City power woman will be wearing come autumn?
Is this what the The City power woman will be wearing come autumn?
Just when we were writing jumpsuits off as a one-season wonder (well, two seasons maybe, but no more), Jil Sander designer Raf Simons today made a case for a stay of execution - although if he has his way, they'll look very different come autumn/winter 10.
Crafting his from traditional fabrics, like wool, boucle and cashmere - with tailored detailing to match - and using grown-up pinstripes, tartans and checks, these were jumpsuits (and playsuits) for power women with something to prove, not girls flashing a little leg in the summer.
The idea of a 'corporate look' wasn't just confined to these pieces, but played out in more wearable skirt suits, divine winter coats and collarless jackets made seamless with Velcro fastenings.
Dressing for the boardroom just got a whole lot more fashionable.
