Here’s why Prince William almost couldn’t go to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding

Yes, really…

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the official date of their wedding, there seemed to be one question on everyone’s lips: will it clash with the FA Cup final?

Yup. Aside from the fact that many will, no doubt, be happy that a Saturday date means a day at home to watch the royal wedding on the TV, a few couldn’t help but point out that it’s also the date of football’s oldest cup competition.

How ever would viewers be able to choose?

And, more importantly, what would Prince William do?

As the president of the Football Association, the Duke of Cambridge is usually one of the special guests at the final match. He also traditionally presents the trophy to the winning team.

But, next year, he’ll most likely be playing best man to his younger brother.

It has been reported that Kensington Palace and the FA are hoping to be able to arrange a way for William to attend both events, according to the Telegraph.

In an official statement, the FA have said that ‘May 19 promises to be a wonderful day with such a special royal occasion being followed by English football’s showpiece event’.

Harry is a pretty dedicated football fan himself, so if his team – Arsenal – happen to make it to the final, then we wonder whether he might be setting up a sneaky screen on his big day…

Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, announced their engagement to the public a few weeks ago.

It’s fair to say that #Heghan mania has taken over since then.

And, yup, we’ve already bought a hat.
