The Cambridges are one of the most talked-about families in the world, with the miniature royals Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis making headlines on the regular, from their signature sass to their adorable royal waves.

This week however it was their parents that made news, as Prince William celebrated his 37th birthday.

Posting a photo to the Kensington Royal Instagram page on Friday, Prince William thanked fans for their birthday wishes.

But it wasn’t the previously-unseen photograph of Prince William on safari that made news, but instead the comment from his brother Prince Harry and sister-in-law, Meghan Markle.

While fans hoped for a loving message from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they were disappointed when the couple simply commented, ‘Happy Birthday to the Duke of Cambridge!’.

‘Well well well, what a cold happy birthday,’ posted one social media user, while another commented: ‘This reads like there is hostility’.

This comes after an announcement that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were officially splitting from Kate Middleton and Prince William in terms of their charity work, dividing the Royal Foundation and adding to rumours of a rift between the two couples.

What does this mean for the Fab Four?
