We didn’t see that one coming…
The royal wedding is tomorrow, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set to wed at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
While the average wedding run up is stressful enough, Meghan Markle is having to deal with much more than most, with her father Thomas Markle dropping out last minute due to health issues.
‘Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding,’ Meghan wrote in the statement released to Kensington Palace’s social media platforms. ‘I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.’
Her statement continued: ‘I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.’
With Thomas Markle set to be absent, there were questions as to who would be walking the bride down the aisle, with Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland seeming the most likely - especially given that she was already set to travel to the church in the car with Meghan.
Today however, Kensington Palace officially announced who would be walking Meghan Markle down the aisle - and everyone was surprised.
The chosen person? Prince Charles.
Yes, Meghan Markle will be walked down the aisle by her father-in-law, and according to reports, the former Suits actress personally asked him, something that Prince Charles is sure to be very touched about.
