Miley Cyrus has just released a very heartfelt apology

Miley Cyrus is one of the most talked-about women in the world, making news for everything from her starring role in Black Mirror to her marriage to actor Liam Hemsworth.

This week however, the 26-year-old made news after the resurfacing of her comments from 2017 about why she had stopped liking hip hop - something Miley spoke out about this week to apologise.

‘I also love that new Kendrick song: “Show me somethin’ natural like ass with some stretch marks.” I love that because it’s not “Come sit on my dick, suck on my cock,”’ read her quotes from her 2017 Billboard interview. ‘I can’t listen to that anymore. That’s what pushed me out of the hip-hop scene a little. It was too much “Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my cock” — I am so not that.’

While it caused a stir at the time, the controversy had seemingly died down, until this month when YouTuber Kenya Wilson revisited the subject in a video entitled, ‘Miley Cyrus Is My Problematic Fave… Sorry’.

While Wilson praises Miley’s music, she vocalises her disappointment in the singer’s quotes from the 2017 Billboard interview, stating: ‘It wasn’t the right to say, it was bad, it was racially insensitive, it had racist undertones, and it wasn’t okay.’

Miley was quick to reply, taking to the YouTube comments to respond.

‘I want to start with saying I am sorry,’ she began. ‘I own the fact that saying ... “this pushed me out of the hip hop scene a little” was insensitive as it is a privilege to have the ability to dip in and out of “the scene”. Simply said ; i fucked up and I sincerely apologize.’

Well, that’s that.
