Lady Gaga has been one of the most talked-about women in the world this year, winning big at award season for her leading role and songwriting in A Star Is Born.
But the one thing that turned Gaga into a global conversation topic in 2019 wasn’t her Oscar performance with Bradley Cooper or her hilarious tattoo typo. Instead it was the sad news that she had split from her fiancé Christian Carino.
There had been speculation that the engagement had been called off after the singer was spotted at the Grammys without her sparkler.
The break up was then confirmed by Lady Gaga’s reps, who told PEOPLE: ‘It just didn’t work out. Relationships sometimes end. There’s no long dramatic story.’
This week however, Us Weekly reported that it was actually down to jealousy from Christian Carino’s side.
‘Christian didn’t treat Gaga very well toward the end of their relationship, and she leaned on Jeremy in the weeks after it ended,’ a source told Us Weekly.
Going on to elaborate, the source reportedly told the outlet that Christian was ‘trying to find her all the time and texted her a lot. He was controlling, and her friends didn’t like him.’
The former couple confirmed their engagement in October, when the singer thanked her ‘fiancé Christian’ during her speech at Elle‘s 25th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration.
Luckily for Gaga, she’s been keeping busy, with award season serving as the perfect distraction.
