Helen Mirren just gave an inspired piece of career advice
Classic Helen.
Classic Helen.
Helen Mirren celebrated her 72nd birthday yesterday, marking the occasion by proving that the ‘older but wiser’ theory is definitely true.
British women have looked to the strong and independent actress as a female role model for as long as we can remember, finding inspiration in her advice and quoting them on to our friends and work colleagues.
This week the Academy Award-winner showcased her wisdom once more, offering up some sage career advice in a recent interview.
‘People keep looking at me for advice of all sorts,’ she explained in an interview with Campaign this week. ‘I don’t know. I have no idea.’
She continued: ‘My advice is be on time and don’t be an arsehole. Grab your opportunities when they come with both hands, give it your all and then fake it.’
Well if Helen Mirren recommends it, we’re all behind it - we’d take her career advice any day.

‘You can’t control how other people see you or think of you and you have to be comfortable with that,’ the Queen of advice once said, later adding ‘At 70 years old, if I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be to use the words “fuck off” much more frequently.’
Bow down for Queen Helen.
