Donald Trump is renowned for ignoring instruction, whether it's refusing to answer interview questions, being reluctant to admit he's wrong or getting a bit too involved in issues that the President of the United States really shouldn't have time for - Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's relationship for instance.
In short - the President of the United States doesn't like doing what he's told - and there are plenty of Donald Trump quotes to prove it.
You'd think however that there are some exceptions when it is completely necessary to follow the rules - in order to avoid physical harm for instance.
Not according to Donald Trump.
This week, during an eclipse, the President decided to do the one thing that you're not supposed to do - stare directly at the sun.
The solar eclipse, falling on Monday, was the first total eclipse to cross the United States since 1918, blocking the sun entirely for three hours.

The risks of staring at an eclipse are well-documented, with protective eyewear distributed in advance to prevent permanent eye damage.
Trump however was spotted without his protective glasses while watching the historic sight with first lady Melania and 11-year-old son Barron from the Truman Balcony of the White House.
Despite being given protective eyewear, the President reportedly looked up to the sky staring directly into the eclipse, prompting one of the White House aides to shout 'Don't look!'. Trump then came to the conclusion that the recommended eyewear might actually be a good idea after all. Shocker.
We wish we could say this was the stupidest thing the President has ever done.
