The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their third child this week, with Kate Middleton giving birth to a baby boy, now fifth in line to the throne.
‘Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs,’ read a statement from Kensington Palace. ‘The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.’
The couple then stepped out onto the steps of the Lindo Wing to introduce their newborn son to the world.
Following the announcement, congratulatory messages have come in thick and fast for the Cambridges, with everyone from A-list friends and royal family members to the Prime Minister and other foreign leaders getting involved in the royal baby reaction.
The most recent figures to send their well wishes are former US President and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama, who took to social media to congratulate their friends, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
'Barack and I are thrilled to congratulate The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their newest arrival! We hope to meet him soon for a Kensington Palace pajama party. I'll wear my robe!'

There's no news yet as to when Barack and Michelle will get to meet the newest addition to the Cambridge family - especially as it was announced recently that the couple wouldn't be able to attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding next month - but we're sure the royal baby will get a visit soon.
Barack and Michelle for god parents, anyone?
