Beyoncé has just made history

The singer will be the first female headliner at Coachella in a decade
Annual music festival Coachella, which takes place in the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, is known as the chicest fest around. It's the one that all the A-listers, from Kate Bosworth to Diane Kruger, attend and, no, there's not even one welly stuck in the mud in sight. In fact, the best ever Coachella festival looks pretty much sum up our entire dream summer wardrobe.
Anyway, the only issue with Coachella of late has been that they've not had a female headliner since Björk back in 2007. Yes, that's 10 whole years ago. It's no shock then that Coachella's been branded 'Brochella', accused of male stage domination, and encouraged to bring more women to the fore of their headlining acts.
Out of the festival's total of 167 acts, only a quarter of them have been women. The 2015 setlist saw a 16% improvement in this ratio and this year, Coachella have finally announced their female headliner...
And, who better to break that glass ceiling than the one and only Beyoncé? (We. Know.)
The singer, who's nominated for nine Grammy Awards this year has just been announced as the Coachella headliner and the world is suitably losing its shit. The festival will mark her first planned live gig for this year since she spent all of 2016 touring for her album Lemonade. It's also huge news because Queen Bey rarely plays at major festivals and has most recently performed at smaller venues like the Global Citizen Festival in New York's Central Park and Made in America in Philadelphia.

It seems that Bey isn't the only performer people are excited about either, with other names on the setlist including The xx, Bon Iver, Future, Lorde, New Order, DJ Khaled, Gucci Mane, Father John Misty, Schoolboy Q and DJ Shadow. And, with Kendrick Lamar and Radiohead as the other headliners, it's easy to see why people are so excited for this April (14-23 FYI).
